POSITIVE COVID TEST &/OR COVID SYMPTOMATIC

ISOLATE FOR 5 DAYS MINIMUM

  • Stay home for 5 days.

  • Return to school/work on day 6 - as long as there is no fever for at least 24 hours without using medication and no symptoms.

  • No test is required to return.
EXPOSED TO COVID: UNVACCINATED

QUARANTINE FOR 5 DAYS MINIMUM

  • Stay home for 5 days from last exposure*.

  • Return to school/work on day 6 - as long as there is no fever for at least 24 hours without using medication and no symptoms have been developed since exposure.

  • No test is required to return.

  • JCPH strongly recommends individuals aged 3 and older to wear a well-fitted mask when they return to school for an additional 5 days.

  • Note: this also applies for schools in “outbreak status”.

  • * Household Exposure Example:
    mother tests positive, isolates for 5 days:
    • unvaccinated person starts quarantine at day 5 of mother's isolation period.

  • * Community Exposure Example: unvaccinated person starts quarantine for 5 days from exposure date.

NO QUARANTINE

COVID VACCINE FOR CHILDREN AGES 5-11

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is now available for children ages 5-11. Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines are not authorized for this age group at this time. COVID Testing Program

Athletics & Activities Testing Not Required, But Encouraged

The Jefferson County Public Health order JPH-PHO-21-002 (PHO) that required Jeffco Public Schools to implement weekly COVID testing for unvaccinated students who participate in extracurricular athletics and/or activities has expired as of December 22, 2021. 

In response to this, we are no longer requiring weekly COVID testing for unvaccinated students who particpiate in extracurricular athletics and/or activities.

Although testing is no long required per the county-issued public health order, we strongly encourage all students to be regularly tested, especially unvaccinated individuals and those that have a known exposure.

Our testing program partner Mobile Health will still be at the locations below to administer testing for staff and students. These dates, times, and locations are subject to change. Please check this web page frequently or call your local school for more information. 

Any asymptomatic staff and student may test weekly at any hub no matter their vaccination status.
 

STUDENT INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Student Incentive Program

CDPHE is administering a student incentive program for participating in surveillance COVID-19 testing. All students under the age of 18 in participating schools that have parental consent on file are eligible for this free COVID-19 school screening testing incentive program regardless of their current vaccination status. Students that are 18 years old or older do not need parental consent on file, but will still need to register to be tested.

A student must be tested to receive the incentive. Students are eligible to receive a maximum of one incentive per week. A participating student will receive $25 for the first COVID-19 test that is administered to them through this program. A student can then receive $10 for every subsequent test that is administered each week (at a maximum of one incentive allowed per week).

Students will receive their incentive(s) monthly and retroactively, via a gift card mailed to their address on file with the parental consent. For example, if a student tested in September, in early October, the student will receive a gift card loaded with all total incentives earned in the moth of September.

  • Jeffco staff do not need to pre-register. Staff will sign up on-site and only need register once.

STEP 2: CHOOSE A SITE
  • You may test at any COVID testing facility. Find other testing facilities and locations with CovidCheck Colorado and JCPH. (Some of these sites may offer saliva testing.)

  • If it is more convenient, you are welcome to test at our school sites, offered daily using the schedule below

  • The CDPHE Mobile Health testing program (see below) is used for surveillance purposes which refers to regular testing for individuals who are not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. Any unvaccinated or vaccinated Jeffco staff and student may test once per week.

Starting on Monday, March 28, our Mobile Health testing sites will reopen with slight revisions. Columbine High School will no longer be a testing site. In addition, the time frames have changed to the following:

  • Transportation Hubs: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
  • Education Center Hub: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (Fridays only)

REMINDERS
  • Students under 18 will need to have parental consent. This will be established as you sign up for the Mobile Health screening process. Paper versions will be available at your school. 

  • Family members may stay on site during the testing process. 

  • Only students and staff can be tested at these locations. Family and community members will need to seek out testing at other JCPH testing locations or through CovidCheck Colorado. Some of these other sites may offer saliva testing.

  • Symptomatic students and staff cannot be tested by Mobile Health. * 

  • Symptomatic students and staff should visit JCPH Testing Locations to be tested. *
